You may want to consider the following.

How much the budget would be, then what purposes would you use the laptop for? traveling – you need a light and compact laptop (net book). games – high specs and heavy to carry.

You may watch out for warranty and the memory speeds.

Follow me along with this link.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146839

Once you are on that site, click on the “Details” right under the picture of the laptop. You will know see the specifications the laptop has.

Look at the “CPU Type.” For this one we are looking at it says “Intel Celeron” which is veryyyy old. I would recommend you get an “Intel i3 or i5″ The best one out for CPU type is “Intel i7″ which is very costly so I don’t recommend that unless you’re going to be semi-hardcore gaming.

Now another important thing to check out is the “Memory Size.” The laptop we are looking at has “DDR2″ type of RAM. DDR2 is old. Most laptops knows will carry DDR3 which is the newer one so try to get that type of RAM. How much GB of RAM do you need? The laptop we are seeing holds 2gigs of DDR2 ram making the computer worthless really in this time. Since you mostly likely will have Windows 7, you should find a laptop with “3 Gigs of DDR3″ or “4 Gigs of DDR3″ type of RAM aka memory size.

Go down a little bit more to “Hard Disk” aka Hard drive space. Commonly laptops will carry at least 300gigs of hard drive space. I suggest you look out for a laptop with 300 or more gigs of hard drive space. This is just to store files and such. You can get the bare minimum of 300gigs because all you said the use for your laptop is going to be “college stuff” so i’m not assuming you are going to be saving 50+ movies in there.

Now you can go to walmart.com

Hover your mouse over the “Electronics and Office” section then click on “Computers”

Now again on on the left side click on “laptops”

Now check mark all the things you would want.
