Predicament caused by Anthony20: Intel Core i7-960 vs Apple Macbook Pro i7?
Is the “Intel Core i7″ the same NEW technology/processor that is used by Apple for their new Macbook Pro i7 that was just released yesterday? I ask because the Intel Core i7-960 says it’s Quad Core and not being sure, I believe Quad “this” and “that” is although still good, it’s not the latest technology.

You’re comparing a desktop CPU to a laptop CPU. There is no comparison. The Macbook Pro has a dual core mobile i7. The 960 is a desktop quad core i7. They’re both the same fundamental architecture, but the 960 is a quad with a higher clock speed.

The i7-960 is a quad core desktop processor, running at 3.20 GHz. The MacBookPro uses a 2.66 GHz Core i7 DUAL core MOBILE processor. Much less total horsepower.

hahaha mac fanboy? The i7 960 blows em out of the water. For one lets start with the lower priced laptops the the 2 lower priced ones have a intel core 2 duo witch are good but nothing compaird to the intel i series. As for the bottom roe there is only one CPU that is worth compairing to the i7 960 because all the other cpu’s are i5. The one that is worth compairing it to is the 15-inch: 2.66GHz witch is still slower than the i7 960. The only difrence between the 15-inch: 2.66GHz cpu and the I7 960 is the clock speed the 960 is .7ghz faster.
Let me clear this up. “I believe Quad “this” and “that” is although still good, it’s not the latest technology.” Quad core technology and dual core technology are one in the same. Quad core just means that there is 4 cores on the processor meaning one CPU can act like 4 CPU’s, same with dual core, 2 cores witch means it can act like 2 processors. But really you cant compare a desktop CPU to a laptop one.
