Alienware m11x 8 GB RAM upgrade?

so i have an m11x

Processor: Intel(R) CPU U7300 @ 1.30GHz 1.30GHz

RAM: 4.00GB

i want to upgrade it to 8gb. Do i just buy a 4GB one and add it to the second slot, or do i have to buy 8gb ram as a pair?

I intend on buying “4GB DDR3 Memory RAM for Alienware M11x (Core i5/i7)” off ebay im guessing i can use it even tho it says Core i5/i7.

RAM is very easy to install in general. as long as you get the same speed on the RAM, there will be little trouble. if you want to play it safe, try getting a stick of RAM exactly like the one you have.

You have to look at your ram first and see if it’s 2 cards that are 2GB each or one 4GB card in there. It is probably two 2GB sticks so you would have to buy 2 4GB sticks (2x4GB) to get the 8 you want. Also when checking to see what you have right now make sure you find out their speed probably 8500s or 10600s
