hard drive: western digital 540 gb hard drive

RAM: (i need help)

im eathier ganna get 1 stick of 2gb ram, or get 2 sticks of 2gb.

but im ganna use xp first, and then when windows 7 comes out im getting that. what should i do?

They should all work fine together.

With the RAM, you need to make sure it is DDR3 as well as having as many chips as there are cores on the CPU so in your case you would need 4 otherwise the CPU won’t run as well as it should because each core needs it’s own bit of memory.
